DIY Foundation Powder
Updated: Sep 21, 2020
Imagine being able to make a mineral foundation that is zero waste and only from items in your kitchen cupboards? Here is a recipe that is just that, PLUS, the powder will not clog your skin or landfill. It can be made organic, and it is also possible to source all of the ingredients without plastic packaging.
Gather your ingredients and a non-metallic bowl. The amount that you use of each ingredient will depend on the tone of your skin.
Start with the arrowroot powder as your base and add in the cocoa powder and cinnamon a little at a time, until you reach what you imagine is close to your skin tone.
Test the color by placing a small amount on your face with your finger or a brush. It may take a little tweaking to get your ideal shade, for instance, add more of the arrowroot if it needs to be lighter, or cocoa powder if you need it darker. Cinnamon adds warmer tones.
- Store in a tin, glass jar or reused plastic container and use a dry brush to apply. This powder can be used alone or over liquid foundation and will add a mattifying effect to your skin, with a light-moderate coverage.
- If you have some you could also add in kaolin or bentonite clay to your powder for a wonderful soft finish and detoxifying element.
